The total air cushioning of the segmented Vapormax sole embodies the revolutionary spirit behind the original Air Max concept. It’s one of the reasons that the Vapormax made such a big splash when it debuted last year. For 2018, the distinctive sole unit takes on a new dance partner, as the minimalistic, flexible knit upper is traded in for the aggressively sleek upper of the Air Max Plus.
The ocean sunset inspired, red to blue gradient of the original Air Max Plus was revolutionary in its own right when the Air Max Plus first appeared in 1998, immediately making the Tuned Air housing silhouette a fashion must have. The array of striking color options quickly became one of the distinguishing features of the shoe.
The Vapormax Plus: a hybrid fusion of the two models that places the colorful Air Max Plus upper on the segmented Vapormax sole. Throughout the past year, Nike has released multiple new colorways of the silhouette, this time coming in a "Game Royal" iteration. The shoe is dressed in a Game Royal Blue upper, while a Total Orange and Clear gradient Vapormax sole adds contrast. The shoe is then finished off with a White midsole and the shoe's classic Nike check, logo and Vm accents along the outer ankle, tongue, and heel.
