Carhartt made their name by providing work garments for heavy industry. We’re talking molten steel, chainsaws, railroad spikes, arc welders type of heavy industry. The rugged durability and simple, utilitarian aesthetic made Carhartt a hit beyond the world of hard hats and lunch pails.
In the 1980s, denim entrepreneur Edwin Faeh began importing and expanding Carhartt to Europe. Ultimately, in 1996, he struck a major deal to manufacture Carhartt branded clothing outside of the United States under the name Carhartt 'Work In Progress'. The W.I.P. label takes the traditional Carhartt approach to construction and form, and applies it to a range of fashion oriented garments and accessories, incorporating European-inspired designs with long-standing, renowned styles. Although the tailoring may have downtown in mind, the quality remains pure job site.
Since its beginning, Carhartt WIP has had its fair share of collaborations, whether it was their jiu-jitsu collaboration with Hyperfly, or their most recent workwear collab with streetwear brand, Brain Dead. Now, for the first time ever, Carhartt WIP presents a brand new mash-up with the World’s favorite sneaker label. Introducing five fresh sneaker styles, two hats and two bags, the Nike x Carhartt WIP collection combines some of Nike’s most iconic sneaker silhouettes and designs with WIP’s classic workwear materials, bringing the ruggedness of Carhartt WIP to the streets.
The new Air Max 95 W.I.P. takes an instant Nike classic and dresses it in a Tiger Camo upper, equipped with true workwear material that will last you the Winter.
