Athletic performance technology is not, by nature, a static field. The next thing is always just around the corner. These rapidly shifting standards can leave the current state of the art thing behind in a hurry, and make past models seem positively quaint.
It’s easy to forget now, especially with so much of their appeal wrapped up in being classic and simple, but Nike’s earliest runners were rather advanced, even revolutionary, for their time. Fragment’s Hiroshi Fujiwara takes one of these old-school icons, the Nike LD-1000 and outfits it with a more recent development, a 360 Air Max cushioning unit.
A tonal, pink colorway adds contemporary style, while the nylon, suede, and leather upper stays true to the LD-1000’s heritage.
