Needles is Japanese design maven Keizo Shimizu’s almost avant garde take on vintage and utilitarian clothing. Repurposing is taken to an extreme, as vintage garments and fabrics are fashioned into entirely new garments, blending a classic aesthetic with a progressive, contemporary sensibility.
Normally the silk scarf and the bandana would, in terms of perception and prestige, represent opposite ends of the head and neck accoutrement spectrum. But, not unlike Pip in Great Expectations, the classic paisley print bandana pattern has been thrust into a new life by a mysterious benefactor.
