Socks and shoes are a natural pairing, so Boston based New Balance and California sock makers Stance have joined forces for an ongoing series of collaborations in 2017.
The series kicks off with the “First of All” pack, which sees New Balance and Stance pay tribute to the physical details of their respective hometowns.
The Boston entry features New Balance’s classic 997 runner, rendered in a copper rose and tan tribute to the city’s historical brownstone architecture, while a reflective, teal underlay recalls the aged copper facades found on many brownstone buildings. The shoe’s leather accents feature a debossed, cobblestone pattern, in reference the colonial era streets of Boston. The 997 is paired with Stance’s 144 Needle crew sock in a classic grey and navy colorway.
San Clemente’s natural, laid back, beach and surf vibe is represented by slate blue and tan pigskin suede rendition of the newly introducted 1978 silhouette. The accompanying 144 Needle crew sock furthers the sea and sand theme with a striped blue palette that references the wave breaks in the Pacific waters of San Clemente.
